POSITION OVERVIEW

The PGA Teaching Professional at La Marquesa Golf is responsible for the full development, execution and performance of the Club Academy, covering both adult and junior segments.

The role is a key revenue driver within the golf operation, ensuring high-quality coaching delivery, structured program development and alignment with the Club’s strategic positioning.

The Teaching Professional leads all coaching activity on site, maintaining strict control over service standards, customer experience and commercial performance. The role also supports the activation of events and contributes to the overall engagement, retention and spend of members and visitors.

At all times, the position must protect and reinforce the image, standards and strategic direction of La Marquesa Golf.

 

KEY ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Strategic Alignment

  • Define and execute coaching objectives aligned with the Club’s vision, positioning and revenue targets.
  • Drive the Academy as a structured business unit with clear growth targets.
  • Ensure all coaching activity supports member retention, visitor experience and upselling.

Academy Development

  • Design and implement a comprehensive Academy structure for adults and juniors.
  • Develop scalable group programs, clinics and seasonal camps.
  • Create clear pathways for junior development and progression.
  • Build relationships with schools, institutions and local community to grow participation, always with permission and knowledge of the Club Manager.

Coaching Delivery

  • Deliver high-quality individual and group coaching sessions.
  • Ensure consistency in coaching standards and methodology.
  • Manage personal lesson diary to maximise utilisation and revenue.
  • Monitor client progress and ensure high satisfaction levels.

Operational Excellence

  • Manage the daily operation of the coaching and practice facilities.
  • Implement and maintain departmental SOPs for coaching.
  • Ensure facilities, equipment and teaching areas meet required standards.
  • Recommend improvements in equipment, technology and setup.

Commercial & Marketing Contribution

  • Support and implement Academy-related marketing initiatives.
  • Promote coaching programs to increase participation and revenue.
  • Work closely with Sales & Marketing to position the Academy as a key asset.
  • Drive upselling opportunities linked to lessons, retail and events.

Events & Club Activation

  • Support the design and execution of club events, tournaments and activations.
  • Use events as a platform to generate coaching demand and engagement.
  • Actively participate in member and guest interaction during events.

Brand & Standards Protection

  • Maintain the highest standards of professionalism and service.
  • Ensure all interactions reflect the image and positioning of La Marquesa Golf.
  • Protect and reinforce the Club’s reputation through behaviour and delivery.
  • Ensure full compliance with Club standards and policies.

Health, Safety & Compliance

  • Ensure all coaching activities comply with health and safety standards.
  • Maintain safe use of practice facilities and equipment.
  • Follow all environmental and operational procedures.

REPORTING & MONITORING

  • Track Academy performance including revenue, utilisation and participation.
  • Report monthly on coaching performance and growth initiatives to Golf Operations Supervisor & Club Manager.
  • Monitor customer satisfaction and feedback.
  • Identify opportunities for improvement and implement corrective actions.
  • Ensure alignment with budget and business plan targets.

QUALIFICATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

  • Recognised PGA qualification or equivalent.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in golf instruction.
  • Proven experience developing coaching programs and academies.
  • Experience in resort or high-volume golf environments preferred. Regional experience preferred.

  • Strong commercial awareness and revenue focus.
  • Advanced coaching knowledge and technical expertise.
  • Ability to design and implement structured programs.
  • High level of communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Professional presence and ability to represent the club.
  • Organised, disciplined and results-driven.
  • Fluent in English. Additional languages are a plus.

WORKING CONDITIONS

  • Full-time role.
  • Fixed Salary + Variable.
  • Monday to Sunday availability based on operational needs.
  • Flexible schedule aligned with demand and seasonality.
  • High presence required during peak periods and events.

CRITICAL NOTE

This role is not limited to coaching delivery. It is a commercial and strategic function within the golf operation. The success of the position will be measured by its ability to grow the Academy as a profitable business unit, enhance the customer experience and reinforce the overall positioning of La Marquesa Golf as a quality-driven destination.
